HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN HOME SPA TREATMENTS :
- Do a dry brush first with a loofah, small towel or soft brush. Gently work from your feet upwards over your entire body. Use circular motions. You will need to do this for 5 minutes to get your circulation going and loosen dead skin cells.
- Have a warm shower to open your pores and soften your skin.
- Apply one of the body scrub recipes below, with your hands working in a small circular motion from your feet upwards. Rinse off
- Moisturize with one of the recipes below or your normal moisturizer.
BODY SCRUB RECIPES
BASIC SCRUB MIX : Ingredients: 1/2 cup wheatgerm, 1/4 cup fine oatmeal, 1 tablespoon rice flour, Combine ingredients and store in an airtight jar. When you want to use homemade body scrubs just put 2 tablespoons in a bowl and mix it with a wet ingredient to make a gritty paste. Use one or more of any of the following wet ingredients: natural yoghurt, milk, cream, honey, egg yolk or fruit. This scrub is gentle enough to use on your face as well as your body, just ensure the grains are very fine.
BROWN SUGAR BODY SCRUB : Ingredients: 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons ground oats (grind with food processor or coffee grinder to a sandy consistency), 2 tablespoons aloe Vera gel, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1 teaspoon almond oil (in case you don't have almond oil, use olive oil, it is a great substitute).
BANANA SMOOTHIEBODY SCRUB : Ingredients: 1 banana, mashed, 1 tablespoon of powdered milk, 1 tablespoon of oatmeal, 2 teaspoons of homey.
GRAPEFRUIT SPA SALT GLOW: Ingredients: 1/2 cup fine mineral salts, 1/2 cup fine dead sea salts, 8 oz Macadamia nut oil, 40 drops ruby red grapefruit essential oil, 20 drops lemon essential oil, 10 drops ylang ylang essential oil. Method: Stir essential oils into the macadamia nut oil. Add the salts and mix well. Pour into a hinged tight sealing jar. You can substitute the Macadamia nut "carrier oil" with other carrier oils (i.e. pistachio oil, sweet almond oil, hazelnut oil or a mixture of oils).
COFFEE BODY SCRUB: Ingredients: 2 cups of coarsely ground coffee, 1/2 cup raw sugar or sea salt, 2-3 tablespoons of massage oil
GRAPEFRUIT SUGAR SCRUB : Ingredients: 1-1/2 cups white table sugar, 8 drops grapefruit essential oil, 2 drops red food coloring (optional), 1/4 cup jojoba oil, 1/4 cup liquid castile soap; Method: Place sugar into a large bowl and stir to break up any clumps. Add the essential oil. Add one or two drops of red food coloring if you'd like it pink! Mix very well to make sure the color is evenly dispersed. Add the jojoba oil and Castile soap next, a little at a time, stirring after each addition. Mix well and the pour into clean container.
MOISTURIZING BODY SCRUB: Ingredients: 1/2 cup liquid glycerine, 1/2 cup water, 2 1/2 to 3 cups sugar or salt (white sugar, brown sugar, or table salt), 1 teaspoon solid coconut butter or solid coconut oil, 6 drops of essential oil of your choice, or combine several (not to exceed 6 drops); Method: Combine glycerin, water, and one cup of sugar or table salt until the salt/sugar has mostly dissolved. Add the remainder of the sugar/salt until you have a rather pasty mixture, at a consistency you prefer. Meanwhile, melt the coconut butter or oil in a small container, in your microwave. MELT, but do not overheat. Stir the melted coconut oil into your sugar mixture, and stir well. Last, add the six drops of essential oils of your choice, stirring to blend. Melt and add more coconut butter or oil to reach your desired consistency. Transfer your mixture to an airtight container or jar, and cool until slightly thickened.
BODY MOISTURIZING TREATMENTS
GINGER SKIN CRÈME: Ingredients: 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, 2 teaspoons light sesame oil, 2 teaspoons apricot kernel oil, 2 teaspoons vitamin E oil, ½ cup cocoa butter; Method: Preheat oven on lowest setting. Finely grate the ginger just enough so that you have about an 1/8 teaspoon of ginger "juice." To obtain the juice, squeeze the freshly grated ginger over a small bowl. Place the ingredients (including the ginger) in a glass container and heat just until the cocoa butter is melted and the oils are blended. Pour into a clean, dry container and store in a cool dry place. You can add a few drops of orange or other essential oil for a nice twist. Ginger invigorates, and oil soothes. Try this double dose for dry skin.
DRY SKIN CRÈME: Ingredients: 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup sesame seed oil, 2 teaspoons vitamin E oil, 2 tablespoons grated beeswax, drops essential oil of grapefruit, drops of aroma oil (optional, your choice), a pinch of borax; Method: Blend the vitamin E oil, beeswax and sesame oil. Heat on low until melted. Combine the water, oils and borax. Heat for a few minutes (until warm) but do not boil. Combine the water mixture with the beeswax mixture. Mix well (at least 2 minutes). For a fluffier cream, use an electric mixer or a blender. Pour the cream into a clean container after it has cooled completely.

STRETCH MARK CREAM: Ingredients: 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil, 2 teaspoons grated beeswax, 1/4 cup of cocoa butter, 1 teaspoon of light sesame seed oil, 1 teaspoon of apricot kernel oil, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract; Method: Mix all the ingredients (except vanilla) and heat it until beeswax and cocoa butter have melted. Stir well the whole time. Remove from the heat and add vanilla extract. When it has cooled well, store it into a clean, glass jar and close the lid tightly. GRAPESEED OIL MOISTURIZER FOR OILY SKIN: Ingredients: 50 ml of grapeseed oil, 4 drops of Yiang Yiang essential oil, 3 drops of spearmint or peppermint oil, 3 drops of geranium essential oil; Method: Combine the oils gradually adding the Yiang Yiang, spearmint, and geranium essential oils into grapeseed oil. Store it in a cool and dry place and keep the jar sealed.
SESAME OIL MOISTURIZER FOR DRY SKIN: Ingredients: 50 ml of sesame oil, 8 drops of sandalwood essential oil, 5 drops of Rose essential oil (Rose Otto), 2 drops of Vetiver essential oil (Vetriveria zizanioides); Method: In a glass jar, pour sesame oil and gradually add the other oils. Stir slowly until the oils mix well.You can store it in a cool and dry place and use it when needed. This body oil mixture is to be used two times a day.
